About Me

Hello, I’m Alicia Cazzolla. I formed Lovebug Lactation because I saw a need to help support new mothers in our community. I have a passion for all things birth related. I guess you could call me a birth nerd. I knew from the age of six that I wanted to help children. I remember having surgery when I was young and the nurse that cared for me was my hero. I can remember her letting me hold my teddy bear as I drifted to sleep and when I woke up he had little bandages to match mine. I can remember her changing my clothes after I got sick. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up.

I went to nursing school and had an internship rotating between postpartum, newborn nursery and the women’s unit. I can remember helping to latch a baby at age 19. After that rotation, I fell in love with the idea of helping women.

I merged those two passions when I got my first job as a Labor and Delivery nurse. I worked in hospitals on the east coast for over 20 years. After I had my son, I can remember asking the hospital IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) into my room to help me nurse my baby who was in the NICU. My husband joked that after seeing her so many times, he could have been a lactation consultant. She was incredible and gave me the tools I needed to nurse my son. But after leaving the hospital, I noticed that there was little support for breastfeeding mothers in the area.

As the years passed, I developed a passion to help pass the information I had learned to my patients as I worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse. Eventually, I got my CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) and then my IBCLC. I continue to have a passion for teaching. I taught childbirth classes and became the head of the lactation department at the hospital. I have worked in healthcare my entire life but try to live a holistic lifestyle. I strive to support families and help them to make their own decisions. Every family is unique and should be supported in their decisions.

I still see a lack of resources for breastfeeding women and decided to open my own practice. I named it Lovebug Lactation and Childbirth Services because I called my son my little lovebug. It’s my term of endearment to the special little ones I meet.

I hope to meet you and your little lovebug and hope to help you in your journey of becoming a family.
